The May 6th  Monthly Meeting Of The

Bay Area Support Group

Hello everyone, as most of you know we were supposed to have a guest speaker and have our usual meeting at the LaPorte Library.  Well, the library scheduled their yearly book sale the same day we had our meeting.  So we had to rearrange all of our plans.  Since we now needed a place, Virginia Chase volunteered her house for our meeting.  She has a beautiful house, large enough on the inside if the weather turned bad.  Or she has a nice covered area outside.  Well, the weather surprised us and cleared up, so we were able to enjoy some of that great Texas sunshine. We had a new couple there, Sam and Ann Wright, Ann contracted Polio in 1941.

We had a lot to discuss this meeting. The first was the June 3rd  meeting coming up.  We will be back at the LaPorte Library, and our guess speaker will be Denise Taylor, she is a Respiratory Therapist and will speak on sleep disorders and other related subjects.  This meeting will be open to anyone interested, so please feel free to bring family and neighbors.

Our next big topic was seeing if everyone was interested in having an outdoor picnic at Sea Breeze Park on Galveston Bay in LaPorte.  It’s a nice all handicap accessible park with an accessible fishing pier, and a playground for the grandkids. This picnic would act as our July monthly meeting.  It would be on July 8th  from 10am till 4pm.  This will be a family picnic, so mark your calendar now and tell your families to be prepared.

Our thanks go to Virginia who opened her home for us to have a place to meet and for furnishing all the refreshments and the door prizes.

I want to give a special thanks to James Cousey’s wife for donating one of the door prizes.

The door prizes went to Mark,  Howard and Velma.

You do not want to miss our next meeting. And don’t forget to keep checking out your website, it changes weekly; we’re trying to keep it fresh and interesting.    Visit it at  www.texasbayareapolio.org
