July 2006 Meeting
Well everyone, we tried something different this month and I think it turned out fabulous. Our 1st Bi-Annual Texas Bay Area Polio Survivors Picnic went off without a hitch; we could not have asked for better weather, it was a beautiful cool day. Members started showing up early to offer any needed help. My parents brought their popular beanbag toss game and members started pairing off to see who would be champ for day. For lunch we had grill hot dogs and sausages, with lots of side dishes supplied by our members. We did manage to have a short meeting, just because we had a few announcements to share. But the object of the day was fellowship, having one day just to talk and laugh and get to know one another. We felt like this was something Paul Chase would have wanted to see for the group.
Thank You’s; I don’t know where to start, my parents, Norman and Joan for reserving the Park, all the decorations, and all the little things that I didn’t remember. Howard Hester and his son, for just about bringing everything. Mark Hayes for bringing the rest. All the members for their side dishes. All the members who brought family and friends. I just want thank everyone for making it an enjoyable day out.
Door prizes went to……. Well everyone!
Let’s plan around October to do another picnic when we will know the weather will be cooler, maybe I won’t have to pray so hard.
Remember the next meeting will be back on the 1st Saturday of the month at the LaPorte Library at 10:30am
